How ‘Safety Learning’ Can Help Overcome Anxiety

Our doctoral student, Hyein Cho, was featured on CUNY SUM for her recently published research article on safety learning. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Dennis-Tiwary and Dr. Likhtik of the Biology Department.

We think of anxiety as being all about fear, yet this is only half the story. How we perceive safety and positive information has a huge impact on anxiety. This article describes why we need to start thinking of safety as more than just the absence of threat. If researchers reframe the idea of safety learning, they could uncover new ways to help people with certain anxiety disorders.
