Soothing Election Jitters

It’s been a tough week of uncertainty. Here are three quick tips for coping:

1. Stop the doom scroll

In uncertain times, we want to stay informed. But getting hooked on the endless social media scroll and 24-hour news cycle just puts us on an emotional roller coaster and sky rockets our anxiety. Schedule targeted times to check the news, and then disconnect.

2. Focus on self-care

Carve out time for self-care, whether it’s yoga, a run, a nice cup of tea, prayer, or a hot bath…whatever works! Recharge your batteries by getting enough sleep. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you also choose a glass of your favorite beverage or a bit of comfort food.

3. Seek out social connection

One of the best ways to boost well-being and calm our anxieties is to spend time with the people in our life who bring joy and comfort. These caring connections also help us put these challenging times in perspective and keep us hopeful.
