In an article for Today’s Parent by Carissa Halton about how parental smartphone use affects parents’ connection with their children, Dr. Tracy Dennis-Tiwary is quoted regarding how this disruption affects child development. “If we disrupt our one-on-one time by disappearing into our smartphones, then [children] will learn to disconnect in similar ways,” Dr. Dennis-Tiwary says. “If our children learn to navigate these challenging moments with devices, they may have fewer and less flexible strategies at their disposal to cope with day-to-day social ups and downs.”
